but my euphoria took a slight hit when I discovered that an L6 player can only make the same portal levels that he/she made at L5. :(

    L5/L6 are some of the better levels. Congrats!

    It only let's you make an L5 portal by yourself cause you can only place two L6 resonators on a portal. Once you hit L7, you can still only make an L5 portal by yourself cause you can only place two L6 and one L7. The five remaining resonators will average out back to L5. 

    Which is why I am always dumping and recycling L5 bursters and resonators.

    you mean only L4 by yourself. I thought for sure once I could add two L6's along with my L5's and L4's that it would bump it to a L5 portal. So bummed. Whats the point in loading it with the highest level resonators? L3 resonators were a pain in the butt for me to get my hands on so now that I don't need them any more and was doubling the level for those two slots I thought for sure.....grrrr. Oh well.

    Feels good to finally make it over that hurdle. But my phone is acting up more and more...if its not one thing its another. hahaha

    being an L6 WILL bump up your portals to an L5 if you place the max allowable resonators.  The problem is, at some point you WILL run out of L4 resonators IF you don't have an L4 farm.  I got literary 400 of each L5/L6 resonators, but only 11 x L4 and 24 x L7 resonators.  The problem with collaborating is I live in Three Forks.  The entire Ingress community is comprised of ...me.

    Ran another test. L6 players cannot make a L5 portal. Can only place 2 each L5 & L6 resonators & 4 L4's after which the portal will only be listed as an L4 portal.

    Hmmm... you are actually right.  I was going along the lines of the portal average. 4+4+4+4+5+5+6+6/8 = 4.75

    I thought it would round up that last quarter of a point and just give ya a L5.  I stand corrected

With google shutting down Google+ in the near future and the reality of players using other platforms for communications, now seems like a good time to shut down the Bozeman Enlightened Google+ page. I will wait a few days in case anyone wants to look around one last time or look up a member, etc. But short of a very compelling reason, I think its time to shut it down. Thank you to everyone that ever participated in this community. Sadly I feel by the time our local number of players had really picked up, Google+ was no longer the best tool for communicating. Still, it was nice having it in the early days and interesting to see how the history of game play in the Bozeman area evolved.

After much discussion and testing we are hoping to move state-wide communications to Slack and away from Hangouts.  A single Slack Team will allow us to have channels for each area, a general channel, private group chats, and individual chats (direct messages).  Owners and Admins do not have access to group chats unless invited, nor to direct messages between individuals.  Slack also allows the team to be moderated and it does not have a limit of 100 people. The goal is to bring Montana together as a team for communication.  It will not replace our communities but it will allow Montana to communicate more effectively as a team for local, State-wide, and National operations. Slack has proven very effective in Idaho and other areas.
